Sarita Arteaga, DMD, MA, MAGD
Dr. Arteaga is a graduate from New York University’s Washington Square University College with a B.A. degree in Biology. After attending the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, she received a D.M.D. degree and then completed a General Practice Residency at Bronx Municipal/Albert Einstein Hospital in the Bronx, New York. Returning to Connecticut, Sarita was an associate in private dental practice. She has been teaching and seeing patients at the UCONN Health since 1995 and has been promoted to Associate Dean for Students and Professor (Clinical). In the Department of Craniofacial Sciences, she teaches in preclinical, didactic and clinical settings for dental students Years I through IV, being the course director for Operative I and II and Advanced Topics in Operative Dentistry and Esthetics. She attained a Mastership from the Academy of General Dentistry, and is a member of numerous dental associations, including the Hispanic Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, National Dental Association, and American Dental Education Association. Sarita completed a M.A. degree in Counseling from Liberty University. Sarita is the Past-President for the Hispanic Dental Association (2008-2009) and currently serves as the President of the H.D.A. Foundation. She is a faculty advisor for the Student National Dental Association/Hispanic Student Dental Association at the University of Connecticut School Dental Medicine. She also serves on the Admissions Committee. Dr. Arteaga takes an active community role, performing screenings at the Head Start program in Meriden, the Special Olympics, Migrant Farmworkers Clinic, South Park Inn Homeless Shelter in Hartford and providing treatment at CT Mission of Mercy.
