Jennifer A. Pieren, RDH, BSAS, MS, FADHA
Jennifer Pieren is a faculty member at Youngstown State University (YSU) in Ohio and an adjunct professor at the University of New Haven in Connecticut. She earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Dental Hygiene and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science in Allied Health from Youngstown State University, and a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
With over 25 years of experience in dental hygiene encompassing clinical practice, education, research, and administrative roles, Prof. Pieren brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her professional endeavors. She has taught all levels of clinical dental hygiene and a wide range of courses across the curriculum and has held numerous leadership, peer review, and committee positions in professional organizations. Prof. Pieren is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, the American Dental Education Association, the International Federation of Dental Hygienists, and Sigma Phi Alpha Dental Hygiene Honor Society.
Prof. Pieren is a faculty expert and presenter for the American Dental Hygienists’ Association National Board Review and presents courses at national, regional, and local events. She has received YSU’s Teaching Excellence Award and YSU’s Bitonte Health and Human Services Alumni of the Year Award. Prof. Pieren is co-editor of the textbook Darby and Walsh Dental Hygiene: Theory and Practice (5th and 6th editions) and is also a Professional Fellow of the American Dental Hygienists' Association.
